Clients’ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why do you need my identification?

We must obtain accurate identification because we can only serve people who live in Kendall County.  If your photo ID has an old address, we will accept the photo ID and a piece of mail with the correct address.

Why do you want my phone number?

In case we have to reach you on an important matter.

How often can I receive food?

You may receive food on two Thursdays per month.  We’re open every Thursday from 2 to 6 PM and clients may choose no more than two visits each month.  Seniors, veterans, and disabled clients are served between Noon and 2 PM.

Can we get clothing each time we visit the pantry?

Yes. Our clothing department is open the same hours as the pantry and you may choose clothing during your food visits.

Why do I need to apply at the County Department of Human Services?    

We want to see you get every opportunity for help.  By encouraging you to apply at DHS, we’re ensuring your access to the best care available

Why do you need to know how many adults and children are in my family?    

We distribute food based on the number of people living in your home.

Why do you ask for pet information?    

It helps us estimate the amount of pet food needed. Pet food distribution is on on the 1st or 2nd Thursday, from 2 to 6 PM

Why do I sometimes have to wait a long time?    

Some days our client load is greater than others and it causes longer waiting periods.  Please be patient and understand we are doing the best we can to help.

Is my information kept confidential?    

Absolutely yes. We do not share your information with any other agency.
